Safe Hands, strong governance
The Funeral Planning Authority (FPA)
Safe Hands is a registered member of the FPA.
The FPA was set up by our industry to regulate UK funeral plan companies. It's not an official regulator like OfCom, or OfGen, but it does set the guidelines by which we operate.
At the moment, around 95% of funeral plan providers are members of the FPA.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
In June 2019, the Treasury announced its intention to regulate the funeral plan industry through the FCA. The timeline for this change hasn’t been set, and it isn’t clear what this will mean for the FPA.
Safe Hands planning for future regulation
We're well-prepared. Transparency, clarity, and fairness are values we already see as being pivotal to a well-run funeral planning business.
That’s why we’re happy to report that we’re already running our organisation to the standards we’d expect to see as features of the FCA's measure for our industry.
As a result, this means we’re also in a great position if we need to adapt anything we do, after a transition to the FCA.
